Identification

What ID do I need to purchase recreational cannabis?

You need a valid, unexpired government-issued photo ID. Accepted forms include:

  • Driver’s license
  • Passport
  • State ID card
  • Military ID

⚠️ We do not accept Massachusetts Temporary Paper IDs. You must be 21 or older.

Do I need a medical card to purchase cannabis at CommCan?

No — you do not need a medical marijuana card to purchase recreational cannabis at any CommCan location. A valid government-issued ID proving you are 21+ is all that’s required. If you’re interested in becoming a medical patient, learn more here.

Can out-of-state visitors purchase cannabis at CommCan?

Yes — if you are 21 or older and have a valid government-issued ID, you can purchase recreational cannabis at any CommCan location.

Products & Purchasing

What are the recreational purchasing limits per visit?

Massachusetts recreational purchasing limits per transaction are:

  • Flower: Up to 2 ounces
  • Edibles: Up to 1,000mg
  • Concentrates & Cartridges: Up to 10 grams
How strong are recreational cannabis products?

Recreational cannabis products vary in strength and dosage. Everyone responds differently to cannabis — there is no consistent measurement of effects. We encourage all new guests to start low and go slow to learn how cannabis affects them. Don’t hesitate to ask our budtenders for guidance.

Payment

How can I pay?

CommCan accepts cash and debit cards. Debit cards are processed as ATM withdrawals — a $3.50 ATM fee is charged along with any bank out-of-network ATM fees. Debit card charges are made in $10 increments and any change is returned to you.

We do not accept credit cards, Apple Pay, Cannapay, or Dutchie Pay. There is an on-site ATM at all three locations.

Consumption & Transportation

Where am I allowed to consume cannabis?

Consumption of adult use cannabis may only occur in privately designated areas where smoking and/or vaping is allowed. Public consumption is illegal in Massachusetts. If you’re looking for a consumption lounge, The Summit Lounge in Worcester, MA requires membership.

Can I drive after consuming cannabis?

No. Driving under the influence of cannabis is illegal in Massachusetts and is treated similarly to drunk driving. Do not operate a vehicle after consuming cannabis products.

What are the rules for transporting cannabis?

Similar to alcohol, you cannot have an open container of cannabis in the passenger area of a vehicle. An “open container” means a package with a broken seal or from which contents have been partially removed. Keep your cannabis products unopened and stowed in your glove compartment or trunk while traveling.

Can I travel across state lines with cannabis?

No. Cannabis remains federally illegal in the United States. State borders fall under federal jurisdiction, so crossing state lines with cannabis — even from one legal state to another — is a federal offense.

Our budtenders can check your allotment at any CommCan location. You can also log into your Mass CIP account here to view your current allotment and purchase history.

Visiting as a Medical Patient

I have an out-of-state medical card — can I visit CommCan?

If you are 21 or older, you are welcome to visit CommCan as a recreational customer. Unfortunately, we cannot accept out-of-state medical marijuana cards under Massachusetts state law.

Do I need an appointment?

No appointment is needed to visit any CommCan location. We do offer online pre-orders for those who want to plan ahead and skip the wait.

Do medical patients have to wait in the same line as recreational customers?

Medical patients enjoy a separate queue with dedicated sales registers and priority access, so your wait is alongside fellow medical patients — not recreational guests. Occasional waits may still occur during busy periods.

About CommCan

What makes CommCan different from other dispensaries?

CommCan is 100% family owned and operated by native Massachusetts residents — with no outside investors, consultants, or management companies. When we say “Made in Massachusetts,” we mean it. We cultivate and process all of our cannabis in-house at our Medway, MA facility, and sell exclusively at our own dispensaries.

Where do your cannabis products come from?

Every CommCan product is cultivated and processed at our state-of-the-art facility at 2 Marc Road, Medway, Massachusetts. We are fully vertically integrated — from seed to shelf, everything happens in-house.

How do I know your cannabis is safe?

Every batch of CommCan cannabis and cannabis-infused products is independently lab tested in Massachusetts for mold, bacteria, heavy metals, and pesticides. Our products are pure, clean, and safe — and results are available upon request.

What must I bring to the dispensary?

Recreational customers: A valid, unexpired government-issued photo ID (driver’s license, passport, state ID, or military ID). You must be 21+.

Medical patients: Your Medical Marijuana Patient or Caregiver ID card plus a valid government-issued photo ID.

⚠️ Massachusetts Temporary Paper IDs are not accepted.
